Goblet of Fire full trailer OUT NOW!!!

Oh my goodness! Harry Potter geeks, listen up. The full trailer is out and it looks amazing!:) Check it out at http://movies.aol.com/movie_exclusive_harry_potter_goblet_clip. I watched it 3 times already and there's something new everytime. I was a big dork and kept pausing it to check out all the new characters more closely. It's got me so excited now. But it doesn't come out until Dec. 22 in HK. Oh well, it'll be a nice Christmas present! Go, NOW and watch it, if you haven't already done so!

Miss Tiger

Tiger - in chinese, that's what the kiddies call me at school. I've resigned to the fact that my name is impossible to pronounce for most chinese people. But its pretty funny hearing all versions of my name being pronounced (some being Miss Loo and Miss Roo). The kiddies are adorable but very challenging also. I can't begin to count the number of times I say 'sit down' and 'stop hitting' each day. I'm getting used to the environment, and the busyness of life here in HK. So if my last posting sounded a tad negative, it really isn't all that bad. Not exactly great yet, but hoping it will be. Tomorrow night is our Autumn Festival Night, a school event of performances, food and games. Looking forward to it. I'm glad I get to spend autumn fest here in HK, because it means getting to eat LOADS of mooncake. Our family gets a lot from church people, so I've had everything from the traditional ones, to the weird nutty ones, to the frozen all flavour ones. And the kiddies at school made mooncakes, so got to enjoy those too! Yummy:) I'm a big fan of mooncakes in case you haven't noticed. My favourite part is the yolk and the crust. It would be awesome if they could make mooncakes out of JUST yolk and crust. That would be lovely. And muffin tops too. I adore muffin tops. Haven't had a muffin in a long time (don't ask why I just started talking about muffins). Don't like the bottom part that much. So maybe one day, I'll have to open a muffin top shop (hint hint Lok)....to be continued.

No Longer a Professional Bum

YAY! I finally got a job:) I'm now an English Teacher at Tseung Kwan O Alliance Kindergarten. It all happened really fast. I had the interview with the principal on Wednesday. Then I started working the next day Thursday. They were in a huge hurry to hire since their English Teacher suddenly quit on them (school had already started). So long story short, I've already worked 3 days (thurs, friday, sat). I don't think I've ever been this tired in my life. But I'm learning ALOT about the HK school system, dealing with 30 kindergarteners...and much more valuable lessons. Hopefully I'll get used to the hectic hours, yesterday, we all worked from 8:30am-9pm. It was parents meeting sorta deal but on a larger scale. About 150 parents and I had to give a speech! Remember, this was only my 2nd day on the job. I was pretty terrified...you know me and public speaking. But in the end I did ok, didn't throw up or faint or anything like that;) Today, our school participated in an expo to promote our school. We handed out about 400 copies of our brochure in 4 hours! HK people are so efficient! The teachers at the school are also around my age, 20 somethings so its easy to get along with them.
Hope I'll get used to all this very soon. Got to build up my stamina to work with these kids. Who knew kindergarteners could be such a handful? One kid pinched me on the butt on day 2. As challenging as this job is, I hope it will be just as rewarding.

And although I was full of complaints, overwhelmed, totally exhausted and a bit depressed after the first day of work, I really took comfort in this verse (thanks to Carmen!).

"For I know the plans I have for you", God says, " plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11

The Big 2-2

During my birthday dinner with family and a bunch of relatives, they asked me how old I was turning. AND they added as an aside if I would mind saying my age out loud. I'm not THAT old! Not old enough to be embarrassed of mentioning my age at least. Actually I don't think I'll ever feel weird about telling people how old I am. In fact, I like this number, 22, easy to remember! And for the record, I'm looking forward to turning 50 or half a centurian;)

My birthday was pretty uneventful, I actually forgot it was my birthday until someone asked for the date (that was around 1pm). However, this birthday was extra-special because I got to spend it with my Dad, Mum, and brother. The whole family together. Hasn't happened ever since I went off to uni. And it might not happen again for a while. Because who knows where I'll be next year. All in all, getting to this birthday has been an interesting journey and THAT's what it's all about.

On to another totally different topic. Enoch (my bro) went back to Canada today. I went with him to the airport. We sat a Pacific Coffee for a while. I felt so ripped off by their $30 drinks ($5 cdn). I miss Timmy's and William's. Anyhow, I'll get back to Enoch now. I can't believe I won't be seeing him for a whole year. It's just weird, after spending last year with him in Guelph. It's like our roles have been reversed. Me stay in HK while he flies back to Can. I'll miss him more than I know.

And last but not least, a bit of randomness will I throw in: we bought 2 of these Ikea chairs today. And I put them together all by myself:) And I actually had fun....go figure.

Back to lovely tropical weather...

I lost a whole day in the air. Wednesday to be specific. I left Toronto Tuesday night and arrived in Hong Kong on Thursday morning. It was a weird flight. I slept straight through the entire flight except when I got sick and had to run to the washroom (twice=p). I usually fell queasy when I fly, but I haven't actually been sick in a long time. So this was weird #1. Weird #2 was that I didn't watch any of the in-flight movies (I usally watch all of them). I only was awake to watch half of "Monster In-Law". Nothing special. My flight got in a whole hour early. Awesome because I was back on solid ground 1 hour early! Not so great because I had no money to call my dad to tell him to come earlier. But the hour wait only made me happier to see my dad when he finally got there. As I gave my dad a bear hug, someone tapped me on the shoulder, and there was mum! I was so surprised, thought she had to work. Cool surprise. Then we went "yum cha" because I hadn't eaten anything for the last 20 hours (not a big fan of airplane food). I love the feeling I get everytime being back on land and eating good food after the loooong flights between TO and HK.

I haven't had much jet lag since I slept so long on the plane. But I woke up at 7am today. For those who don't know, my family just moved flats. Only to the building over. The house is a mess right now, and I've taken on the challenge of chucking things we don't need or haven't used in 10 years. I was cleaning out the kitchen stuff today and found tea leaves that had expired in 2001!! Let's just say my parents are packrats and don't like throwing anything out. I guess I'm just as bad with having a lot of things. Basically, my possessions are split up into 3 locations. My brother's house in Guelph, my aunt's house in TO, and a lot of things here in HK. So I've decided not to buy anything unless I absolutely need it. Because I honestly have too much JUNK!

Other than that, I've been job searching and will be sending a few resumes right after I finish posting this. Hopefully I'll find something soon. Desperately need some income! Off to send some now.
